Reflection on previous process and structure…

Abstraction vs. Familiarity… need for entry point: familiar -> abstraction

Re-looking at structure of previous run, exploring new layers of sound and movement; new treatment/approach to lighting a space

New set-up:

piano + laptop (max/msp) + BOSS RC-20 + Alesis Ineko + KORG Kaoss Pad 3

Improvisation 1: IMAGINE:::想

• Introducing a new starting point from “singularity” (单) to “imagination” (想); allowing familiar grounds to be visited prior alienation.
• Keeping a full “blackout” visually, however a new sound experience; something more accessible to begin the show… security; rooted; grounding
• Blackness, darkness… nothingness -> adaptation, seeing, imagination, illusion, creating, getting use to and inviting into darkness
• Body to exist in space (dormant?) instead of existing out of space
• Drawing a direct relationship through inaction

Further improvisations to familiarize body and sounds to new rehearsal space…

• Possibility of new “resonance” section because of materials of flooring…
• New treatment and processing methods of piano to add more layers and texture; create spatial experience
• Previous run has a simple and linear flow in all 3 media; extensions and expansions necessary
