over – Librations of the Moon 2008

Librations of the Moon is a collaboration between three musicians seeking to explore the boundaries of their own craft. Drifting between ambient acoustic melodies, analog sound, looping and electro-industrial verberations, librations of the moon chafes the edges of musical scapes, bringing the performers and the audience out of familiar territory and into new and wonderful nuances of sound through the melding of three extremely disparate profiles.

This also marks the first time Darren, Randolf and Zul have worked together.

Note: Zul’s set up consisted of a few effects processors and some beautifully built DIY analogue synthesizers. He is a sound and installation artist (specialized in sound and art installations, circuit bending and is also a locally renowned sculptor). The DIY synths you see below are some of his DIY works. The set also features Randolf’s “one man band” set up, a celebrated guitarist/looper, veteran musician and inspiring improvisational artist . Followed by my minimalist set up. There will be a recording of the session and possible video documentation of the performance so stay tuned. I would like to express my thanks to The Substation Theatre, to the supportive audience and friends; to Terence for organizing such a pleasurable treat for us three; and to Randolf and Zul for the invaluable experience that is more than just pure joy and learning times for me.
