Crazy schedule since the beginning of the year with projects packed to the brim and army reservist kicking in with a high key, almost swinging me off balance. It had passed and I know it will be coming at me again soon. Nevertheless, I am glad that the first quarter of the year is coming to an end. Whispers, Variance, Quiesce, Sunday… production one after another and now I am about to leave for Vietnam to perform at the Hanoi Sound Stuff 2009. What a start.

Here’s sharing with all the live recording of my recent performance at The Substation Theatre. I would like to take this opportunity to give a special thanks to Woan Wen (light) and Chin Huat (movement), my collaborators for the show QUIESCE. We ended our phase one of this project and will be moving on to phase two, gearing towards our show in Vienna at Wiener Festwochen 2009. The audio recording features my live improvisation on processed piano on 7th March 2009. Not a fantastic recording, done with direct line out from my mixer. Hope you guys will enjoy the free download:

QUIESCE 閾

Just finished Variance at UCC, a dance project commissioned by NUS Arts Festival, featuring choreographers Kuik Swee Boon (SG) and Zhang Xiao-Xiong (TW). Generally, it was a joy working with Kuik Swee Boon and Zhang Xiao-Xiong and I am glad my music served them well. It was such a humbling and wonderful experience working with Swee Boon and Xiao-Xiong laoshi.

Now, I am in the final stages for QUIESCE 閾, a minimalist sound and music performance presented by myself, in collaboration with Lim Chin Huat (movement) and Lim Woan Wen (light). I am not sure if we are ready yet to be honest, but it is a work in progress so we will take the performance as an exercise and exploration. I am really grateful to Woan Wen and Chin Huat for being part of this project and their inputs and commitment are invaluable.
